DESCRIPTION :

This project was our second project of the year 2022-2023, the goal was to create a game by combining the gameplay of a game from a given list and an art direction of a given game. I was in charge of the weapon system, AI and collectables. My classmates did the character movements and the cinematics.

My tasks :

  • Programming guns system (Shoot, ammo consumption, spread and aim)

  • Programming AI with behavior tree

  • Programming game elements with settings 

  • Game Design 

Insight :

Cover system

To create the cover system I had to use attach points on each side of the object, with that I can get several positions around my object and allow the players and the enemies to take cover where they want. I also made a settings to modifie cover size in the editor.

Weapon system

Regarding the weapon system I chose to use a hitscan system except for the grenade where I used splines that follow a path projectile. Then I took care of the spread wich is random and editable and the critical damage.

What I learned / improved :

  • Use construction scipt to make Level elements easy to set in the editor

  • Programming AI using behavior tree 

  • Improvement of my Gun system (Spread)
